The theme of this month of June 2020 has been diversity, and minority empowerment, especially with the death of George Floyd in late May 2020. Today I want to talk about some of the richest women in the world.
First, the richest woman in the world is Alice Walton who has a net worth of $54.9 Billion. That is a hella amount of money. She gained her fortune being the daughter of the founder of Walmart Sam Walton.
Yang Huiyan is the richest woman in Asia with a net worth of $21.2 billion.
Oprah has a net worth of $2.7 billion and the world's richest black woman. Oprah is a brand icon and has been in the broadcast industry since her teens and has built an empire on her own television shows, television networks, magazine and media, as well as real estate.
In the 80's, Oprah founded her own production studio called Harpo Studios (Oprah spelt backwards), which produced television, films, magazine, and online content. She also founded various television networks including Oxygen Media and the Oprah Winfrey Network (2008). Oprah created the Oprah Magazine, Oprah.com, Oprah's Book Club, and is a philanthropist, founder of her Angel Network in 1997. In 2003, Oprah made Forbe's list of World's Richest People with a net worth of $1 Billion.
Oprah's brand is a lifestyle brand that represents strength, authenticity, being outspoken, of empathy and encouraging others to share their stories. Oprah is known for her history in talkshow and her ability to connect with others.
Oprah, not surprisingly, has a way with words, and has made many powerful statements in her career:
"We are all looking for the highest truest expression of ourselves".
"At the core, we are all the same."
“This is your moment. Own it.”
"You can only run your own race."
"Live your best life."
